current: A high school label is just a connotation where such rules don't apply in the real world.

I can't think of the right words to expand.
I got a comment on connotation "of what?"

Labels in high school are not reflective of social reality, instead they are a system where normal rules are suspended in favor of cliques and social stratification.

That's the best I got.

Just discussed this with my daughter yesterday talking about what to teach my grand-daughter.
School tells you - Work hard, be good, be honest etc = Sucess.
There are labels 'Dux'; 'A grade student' 'Failure' etc.
TRUTH - world doesn't work like that.
Example that got my daughter and I talking.
'Coles-Myer' is the BIGGEST food /clothes etc. in Australia.
They should be the richest.
10 yrs ago new management took over.
In 10 yrs they have made HUGE, amazingly HUGE LOSSES.
Yesterday accountants said if they do not get a take-over the business will fold. Mangers etc have used money in-correctly etc.
Yesterday, these managers got over a million dollars increase in money each. Yesterday they announced business is folding soon.
YESTERDAY ( so cross) what happened to share price?
It went UP yes UP yes UP yes UP. These lazy, some corrupt managers and holders of shares got RICHER.

Labels at school are B.S. RUBBISH

REAL world be lazy, inefficient = sucessful

Also in Science class your teacher says try to find information to help the world - !!bollards!! - in REAL science sadly, because they have to live, scientists work for those who PAY. Reason why so long some scientists kept working trying to DIS-PROVE global warming, why cigarette companies still have scientists working for them
Why ( makes me angry) there is MORE money for 'AIDS' research which can affect our mainly male politicians than for childhood leukemia, or lupus ( a disease that affects mostly women) etc.
School labels suck.
I know it's hard but you really should praise this teacher for giving you the chance to challenge school labels as not being REAlL. The teacher may get in trouble with the principal for this ( I did when I was a teacher) but our type of teacher cares MORE for the STUDENTS.
Make your teacher happy by doing this project really well
TAKE CARE
