"King of yahoo violations"

People chat here all the time. This response could even be considered on the chatty side. Gulp. I have had many violation notices. They would greet me every morning in my email, a stern reminder that I answered a question with a question. Again. Which is very bad and costs twelve points. Sometimes I would get a violation notice when I didn't violate anything, which made me feel violated. My psychotherapist is charging me by the hour in dealing with this and I am hoping Y!A will help defray some of the cost.

When someone reports you for abuse and Yahoo sends you a violation notice email. Chatting is talking back and forth to people. It's against the community guidelines.

It means you post something that violates the TOS and Community Guidelines.

TOS: http://info.yahoo.com/legal/us/yahoo/utos/utos-173.html
Community Guidelines: http://answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines.php

"Chatting" means posting a question with the intent to engage in a conversation with other users instead of the intent to simply find an adequate answer to a question.

I wish I knew!

I got a violation letter and one of my answers deleted. I asked them what I did wrong and they said "Read the Rules!" That's like getting pulled over by the cops and they say you broke the law, guess which one!

it means you broke the rules, Yahoo removes your question or answer and sends you a violation email !! if you get many of those, your account along with your email account will be suspended!!

They use that violation code for when they can't come up with something good. And violations are crap in my book...they never spank the right people!

Oh..violations are using dirty words, insulting other people in your answers, inappropriate questions, racial slurs....stuff like that

Having personal conversations. Like if I said "hey poobear, what you doing tonight" instead of answering your q. That would be chatting.

Anyone can flag your q or a, most people just do it for retaliation more than not.

when you break the rules that they have set out. chatting is when you try to have a conversation with someone or multiple people or try to find someone to talk to through yahoo answers, it defeats the purpose of hte site and ruins it for everyone else.

Just about anything as far as I can tell. I've tried asking but only get a Bot response. Let me know if you ever find out.
