Well I guess the name has been around a long time and lets face it, it isn't polite to say hey you have a disgusting mole on your face, so they decided to name them beauty marks.

Have no idea where the fashion to stick fake ones on came from. Maybe the equivalent of Naomi Campbell wore one way back when and all the other women just had to have one.

It's a matter of opinion.

As one examines what is considered beautiful throughout history, it tends to be "whatever it's hardest to look like." In the middle ages, large, heavyset women were very attractive because only the rich could afford to eat so much. Today, overweight is easy, and so thin is in. And since only a few women have moles on their face like that, it's considered attractive. Moreover, such moles are not indicative of any imperfections in our genetic material or communicable disease, which we as a species tend to find unattractive.

Or, in a more symbolic sense, it's a reminder that even the most beautiful of things aren't perfect. Humans are flawed beings, and it makes sense that we'd find such flaws attractive.

Pick whichever you like. Maybe it's both.

The mole (beauty mark) should be within and inch or so of the upper lip or near the outer side of the eye.
The first I heard of beauty mark was Marilyn Monroe.

i have jesus moles. the kiss of judas, the thorn crown bleeding on the high end of the nose, on the right shoulder where he carried the cross, one on the back from the whippings (there used to be six or seven of them but i had 1 removed with apollo ointment and a lighted matchstick). the other moles on my back disappeared, i don t know how it happened. my mom said i am now going to have my moles on the face removed. and oh, i have a hidden mole on my scalp at the back of my head. i would like to see what i really look like without moles and i am happy my mom now knows i suffer too much because of my moles. my sister said i have an intense inferiority complex because of them

moles are not beautiful. this is coming from a real man not a gay one in the fashion industry. if you have one get it removed pronto or else be destined to sell flowers in the middle of busy intersections.

They are only beauty marks if they're on your upper lip otherwise they're just moles.

it's kinda like when fat people are called "curvy". it's a nicer way of saying, "ewwwww, you have a bomb-sized mole on the side of your face!!"
