first we have 2 define what is "Enlightenment":
it is clarity of the mind to see the Truth.

my belief is that its simple; jesus said:
"i am the Light of the world" (john 8.12)
&
"i am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE" (john 14.6)

all those who answered before me talked mainly about "self-enlightenment", though the matter is WAY MORE SIMPLE!

ask jesus for enlightenment.

if he is real, he'll answer.

thats it.

2- suffering from craving (Craving sensory stimulation, craving existence, and craving non-existence give rise to the "continuity of being" )

3- cessation of suffering (You can end eternal suffering by ending the craving that leads to the continuation of suffering.)
