i have to think about a conflict for a mystery story but cant think of any good ideas anyone have and suggestions?

ive thought of cheating and all kinds of things i just need like more depth and detail like what about cheating and scandels I NEED HELP PLEASE!!

I think you should do murder. Committed by a woman whose husband cheated on her but then, the woman doesn't like scandals and media attention so she does not willingly say that he cheated on her so everybody thinks this murder is very nebulous and stuff. Also, add in some mass murderer who just got let out of prison the day before the husband was murdered so that everybody (except few of course) suspects him.

If he follows his dream he will lose the girl
and
his own brother wants to sell the family business that his father loves
and
someone is following him everywhere he gos
and
his sweetheart tells him she has killed someone and she wants him to help her hide the body
and
the police found his handkerchief he lent his girlfriend at the murder scene
You should be able to whip up any of these into a good conflict.

how about...
Industrial espionage and cloning. The main character is a clone but does not know it. He tries to find..himself.

temptation to do the wrong thing because it's convenient, easier rather than doing the right thing. Can be a conflict within a character.
