No. You need a DVD drive to see a movie on a DVD. Check the below link at newegg.com to see a number of DVD/CD drives that you can replace your present drive with.

No, it's not possible to view a DVD on a CD-ROM because CD-ROMs use a red laser and DVDs use purple lasers. There is no such software that can change the lens format because it's all in the hardware. DVD-ROMs aren't that expensive though. They range from about $15-$30 and you can find them at Wal-Mart or any computer store.

There are combo drives that read/write CD's and read-only (play) DVD's. They are not very expensive (maybe $30). There's no point these days to buy a pure CD-ROM drive that only reads CD's to install software or play music. The software to watch the movie is included with the DVD player.

If you have a CD reader, replace it with a combo drive.

A DVD ROM will read a CD, but not the other way around. Short answer: Never.

impossible, because its the hardware that reads it not the software. and if you do not under stand that then, it means you cannot change what the computer reads buy the porgrams you install, you would have to physically change the cd-drive and unless your a complete expert then i would just buy a DVD drive.

Our computer did not have a DVD drive, so my father just went out and bought one that is portable and connects to the computer. It works.
