1. All my bulbs are energy saver bulbs.
2. All the lights are off in my house except the room I'm actually in!
3. I keep my house at 63-65 when I'm not home. 68-71 when I am home.
4. I turn my computer and my internet off (not on standby) completely every night.
5. I'd say 70% of all my laundry is done with cold water. Towels, sheets, underwear...sorry, has to be done in hot water!
As to the gentleman who said his bills increased--maybe you should check your gas/electric bill, as the company may have increased the usage rate. That's what happened to me!

I took steps to help my energy bill. GUESS WHAT!!!! IT WENT UP.. Who do I discuss that with?? Did nothing different in my lifestyle but tried to cut cost in my electric bill. Lived the same way. Turned down the heat. Put the window treatments up and outlet treatments. Anywhere the cold air was coming in. Did that four months ago. My bill went from 140 to 180 ty very little and I rent a two bedroom apartment!!!!!! So, me trying to save and conserve does not matter, apparently. I have not once in my years of living here seen a metor reader, yet, on the bill, it always says actual reading. I DON'T BUY THAT!!!!!!

Well I have turned off the heat and A/C. I turn off all the lights. We still have plastic on the windows. Hmmm. I think you can probably live with the A/C on 80 and the heat at 69. You can still be comfortable.

I go naked during the summer so I don't have to set my thermostat so low to keep the house cool.
