Whoever said 10 goldfish is out of their mind! That's not big enough for one goldfish. It will die fairly quickly, and always be dirty and gross in that tank.
You can get a couple girl bettas, or one male betta, and a couple african dwarf frogs. Or maybe a few of your favorite small fish that don't grow very big.

Ignore the first post.
NO goldfish.

A betta would go nicely.
Sparkling gouramis are cool little fish as well.
Heavly planting would be lovely.
(don't put the betta with the gourami. Labyrinth fish usually don't do well together)
Try not to get schooling fish. A 5 gallon can only handle a few fish.
Don't use the 1" per gallon rule.

I have one Betta in my 5 gallon tank but I'm thinking of getting some small tetras to go with him.Absolutely do not get a goldfish for such a small tank.

If I were to set up a five gallon tank I would decorate with lots of plants and add about 20 plus colorful guppies.
