Even if you don't personally care, stealing historically is wrong and that tradition cares emotional weight with you whether you wish it to or not. The bottom line is, it's bad for your self-esteem.
Besides which, it is hanging up on some mere material object. There is nothing that will do you any good by shoplifting it. In fact, for the most part, there is nothing worth buying!
Look at it from outside yourself: you are sneaking around the store. Suppose someone whose respect you need should observe your sneaky looks? For them, that's who you are.

Nothing wrong with it as long as you enjoy being incarcerated. Prison is a perfectly normal outcome for shoplifting-shoplift to your heart's content if thats what you want to do. By the way, you just learned two lessons-the first: shoplifting will result in consequences and the second: what sarcasm is. Enjoy.

Yes.Say you had your friends over to your house once a week and every time after they left something was missing.Would that be okay? How long would you put up with that? The reason things cost so much in the stores is in part to offset the losses they have from shoplifters.

Of course.

This is such a simple moral delima, I'm not sure why it's being asked here.

When you want to make a choice that involves other people think of how your choice will impact them, picture yourself AS them being confronted by you as another person that makes the choice you're considering -- if it's very negative for said person than you may wish to reconsider if you value other peoples emotions.

I'm not going to tell you not to be selfish, because in truth it's just human nature to be so, but not at the cost of other people. You want something? That's perfectly understandable. But if you wish to actually get it you must earn it.

ya, it's stealing... why would a person shoplift in the first place? if it was bec. of poverty i would maybe understand. but if it was with no reason at all, just to join a gang or sumthing, i think it's really wrong.

Stealing is against the law! If you need something ask your parents, and if they say no, then live without it. Why get caught and go to jail? That's not fun. People work very hard for things, and you should get a job and save like the rest of us. DONNOT STEAL!

Well, I've thought about going into a store and taking something.
Of course, I never have, but I've thought about it.
Point is...if it becomes a problem, yes.
If you do it on occasion, or just steal something small, like an inexpensive ring or a bra, then no.
And yes, the ring and bra were real life examples.

Very wrong. Nothing in life is free, everything takes work. Can go on your record and effect getting a job and into college.
