first u have to check ur OS (operating system) as may be some files become corrupted,, if system is damaged reinstall it again,,if u system is okay then try the second trial which is checking Ur drives for spy ware or Trojan files these files really slow down the PCs & my recommendation software for checking is spyware doctor ;as spyware files & ads fills the RAM memory with trash files which slow ur system,,,,third trial is to press Ctrl+ Alt+ delete in windows XP choose Processes then press Memory Usage to arrange the processes that ur PC fills the RAM with & find out which programs fill the ram then uninstall unnecessary programs
last trial is to check ur virutal memory from Right click on My Computer >properties> Advanced> Performance>Advanced ,,, the total paging file size must be big about 10% min from Drive C: if not press change and choose custom size then adjust it ur self.........Finally if non of those trails solve the problem i think i have a hardware problem with either Ram or power supply didnt give enough power to the motherboard to do it`s functions well ..... hope i could solve ur problem

I know someone who had a very similar problem with their hard drive. Turns out the hard drive (which was a Hitachi) was incompatible with their system. As soon as they removed it, the computer worked just fine.

So, you may just need a new hard drive. I recommend a Western Digital. Lately you can buy them for a good price and they last a long time.

But before you go out and get a new hard drive, I would recommend updating the drivers (if any are provided) for the hard drive. Go to the manufacturers site and see if they have any there for you. If they don't, then I suggest a new hard drive (at least a different brand. Western Digital and Seagate seem to work with most system configurations.)

try pressing F7

Or reboot and then select to start from the last known good configuration . . .
