I've noticed people doing things that blatently inconvenience others and don't seem to care. No one seems to be looking out for those around them.

It'sw not just you, I definitely feel like others are just going through their own lives in their own little worlds and no longer pay attention to others or how they feel. In this world of technology everyone seems to be looking down at their blackberries or talking on their cell phones all the time and don't pay any attention to the people around them. It is obvious in the stores, on the road and everywhere you go these days. What has happened to our empathy for others? It is a sad time when people are living in separate worlds and not thinking of anyone elses feelings or needs but their own.

I was brought up to respect others, and I think it is very important to remain that way. It will influence others around you especially little children. I know what you mean though especially around the holidays. People are pushing and shoving and cutting in line. I always look to see how much the person behind me has, and if it is less than I have, I tell them to get ahead of me. If you see anyone in need of a hand it should be a priority to help them if you can. God Bless you for noticing these things. I hope you don't think it is okay. I know you don't think so, or you wouldn't be asking the question.

Drugs, Media programming, bad parenting, bad friends, social pressures, accepted apathy, attainment over morality, warped integrity leading to pride...The list obviously can go on forever, but the true blame lies in the individual. Perhaps you have heard the phrase "excuses are like ***holes - everybody's got one.". This is dead on, yet personal behavior is NEVER excusable by the individual simply because if they are aware of the cause of the problem, they are also aware of the moral error on their behalf, and simply have an excuse as a way to get empathy and lessen the punishment/repercussion of the error. People lie now. It sucks. Be cool. Adios.

Life seems to be coming at us a bit too fast .
I have noticed this also . Manners are getting to be a rare commodity .In some areas.
We must make an extra effort to help our fellow man .To hold a door ,To pick up a dropped item for an elderly person or just any one .To smile for no reason,it is free and makes others feel good .:)

This is something that normally happens as population density increases. My guess is that you are referring to a more urban environment. Of course, most mass media appeals to those areas, so what is seen on TV and repeated by its watchers is city behavior.

Look at other countries with more dense cities, you will see more extreme competition and this survival mechanism leads to inconsiderate behavior.

I don't like it, but I think it is part of normal human behavior in more competitive environments.

yup. The next time you manage to cut in front of someone while driving just remember that you made all the people in that lane slow down and that if everyone does that you will be going much slower and would have been better off never cutting in front of someone. Its liike karma except logic

yeah your right but most beleive in different theorys of hurting the ones they love and hurting ones they dont know.

i believe there are many possibilities in peoples thoughts, for instance: some beleive on not caring who the person is and hurting them, than never wanting to hurt the people they love; than there is the repition of hurting people they love and knowing that they can or think they can fix it, and than caring about the poeple they dont know and dont want to hurt... but thats just my opinion, i'd love to hear others

No, it's not just you. It is true. Today some people could care less about how other people are affected by thier actions. You are not alone. Just be yourself and try not to let this bother you.

It's not just you, I've noticed the same. People seem to be becoming more self-centered and inconsiderate.
