It really depends on the doctor you go to, and how old you are. Papsmears are done to check for many diffrent kind of problems, from STD's to cancer, to infections and even growth problems. If you are starting because you are irregular then more than likely it will need to done to check for all of these things. I know they are uncomfortable, and most woman would agree. But they are part of something that we all have to do to insure our health. you can't spend the rest of life ignoring that it needs to done. I'm sorry I know this wasn't the answer u were looking for but Ovarian and cervical cancers kill, the sooner you were to find out about them and the infections that can cause them the better of a happier and healthier life youll lead.

If you are sexually active and tell the doctor this, they will most likely wish to do one.
I have been on it for two years and I am pretty skinny, my weight is only just in the normal range. It did make my breasts go up 2 cups sizes tho ! ;-P
It was the best thing I ever did and now I actually get to enjoy life! Before, I would spend 10 days out of every 28 in agony, doped up on painkillers so much that I would just doze off without warning (and still in pain). I was bleeding so much that a tampon would only last an hour and a half max.
I take the pill so that I dont get a period, but I would only recommend that if you have a major problem with yours.
When I took the pill the normal way, my periods were a lot lighter and less painful, (but still too much for me, but it did make a MASSIVE difference). They were like clockwork.
One thing you must understand is this: The bleed you get while taking the pill is not actually your real period. It is an artificial period, produced as a result of the withdrawl symptoms your body has due to taking sugar pills rather than hormones. This is why it is so regular and lighter than normal.
I hope I have helped!

It is a regular thing that gets done whenever someone wants to go onto the pill or any form of birth control... its also something you should have done once a year (if your in a relationship with only one partner) if yo have more then one partner tho... go atleast every 6 months... it can be a life saving test... it doesnt hurt... just relax, an you should be fine. NO the pill does not make you gain weight, thats the one beauty it has over some of the other forms of birth control.... Even tho you dont want the pap done... you should.. ESPECIALLY if your sexually active or over the age of 16...
Anyways hope that helped let me know if you need more info

I'm on the pill, and I didn't gain any weight from it. Everyone's body is different. I just heard the shot makes you gain weight, but I'm not really sure.

You will have to have a pap smear to get on the pill. Don't worry. It isn't that bad. If you worry, it will make it more uncomfortable. The doctor can't give you the pill without doing it.

Birth control does good on regulating your period. I had to use it for that reason also.

If you've been sexually active, then yes the doctor will more than likely want to do a Pap smear. Also, more than likely the doctor will want to check you internally for any tenderness or masses, especially if you have "out of whack" periods. If you have a good doctor, he/she will do this slowly, gently and talk you through it. If you feel comfortable, have your mom in the room with you. If you don't feel comfortable with your mom, then have a nurse there with you. Anytime at all if you feel uncomfortable, tell the doctor! And ask questions if you have any. Good luck!

Well.. the papsmear is usually for SEXUALLY ACTIVE women. but since your irregulat anything can happen up in there, sorry but cant see from outer appearance.. lolz But when you do become active you need to have your papsmear done 2times a year!and its only 1minute (i swear its 1-3minutes just tell them to do it quick!) Don't worry about it, it aint nothing, i had mine done @ 13 and I had 2 doctors and 6 students looking all up my vagina and a$$! I was a little embarresed but i thought' THESE PEOPLE AIN'T EVER GONNA SEE ME AGAIN, BESIDES I GOTTA PRETTY CHOCHA' lolz.. and also the pill dont make you fat the depo-shot does
