Bind your breasts so the milk can't come in...use ace bandages or something like that. That's what was recommended when I stopped nursing 31 years ago. It might not be popular to do it that way nowadays but it does work in an emergency.

why would you have to stop? what meds were you on?
You can pump and dump while you are in the hospital. Did you get the meds checked out to see if they even pass into your breastmilk?
You can search online to see what level the meds are or call a hospital and ask.
My cousin was in the hospital for over a week, she pumped while she was there and sent the milk home every night. When she started her meds she would pump and dump so she wouldnt lose her supply
Hope this helps ( check it out for real BFing is the best for your baby, and you might only have to supplement for a few days if you dont have a freezer stash of breastmilk)

i became brought on, with my first, 3 days in the previous my due date. It became my selection and that i would not have it any opposite direction. I went in that morning, began the drip around 7:00 am and my baby became right here below 5 hours later. The contractions weren't too undesirable. I had an injection of soreness drugs around 9:30, then have been given an epidural around 10:30. i could are transforming into the epidural until now, if I had worry-free it would not placed on off. Now i be attentive to and could be getting it first next time. i like inductions, it made my life plenty much less stressful. I labored an entire day the day in the previous transport and that i packed my luggage the night in the previous. have been given up and shaved my legs, placed on make-up and caught my hair in the previous going to scientific institution. wish it is going nicely for you.

-How old is your baby?
-Who told you the meds preclude you from nursing?
-How long will the meds be in your system?
First, check out this Web site to confirm that the information you received re: your meds and breastfeeding is correct:
http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/index.html Also, contact a La Leche League leader for personalized free help if the site above doesn't give you any answers (http://www.llli.org/webindex.html)
If the medication will indeed harm your baby, consider pumping and dumping until it's out of your system...the benefits of breastfeeding (for you and your baby) are so many that it's worth looking for alternate solutions if at all possible.
Good luck!

You are getting milk because of hormones that are circulating in your blood. Production of those hormons are stimulated a the time of labor and every time you brestfeed your baby their production is simulated again (the feeling you are having when the baby suckes out the milk... yea thats it). If you start brestfeeding and keep milking your brests production of hormones will stop, thus drying up your milk. Make sure you don't keep the babe close to your brests are let it suck your nipples after you've milked 'em. It's the same stimulation.

When you stop feeding/pumping, it will dry up on it's own. Some women do this very quickly, others take a little while. Hang in there Mom, it will stop! I hope you are okay now!

There are VERY FEW drugs that are completely incomaptible with breastfeeding. Please be sure you cross referance with Dr. Hale's "Medicine and Mother's Milk" and the Kellymom page someone listed above.
If they give c-section moms who breastfeed Percocet, which is a narcotic and they give penicillin for mastitis, they can most likely find you breastfeeding safe medications.

I absolutely agree with JUST JOK. Hang in there & pump & dump. Your baby will be so much healthier on breast milk.
Hope you feel better, soon.

no it has to go away on its own, the only advice i can give you is wear a tight bra all the time and dont touch them or let water beat on them in the shower it stimulates your milk, you may want to try frozen peas in a bag on your bra to take away the discomfort.
