The BBB has nothing to do with employment law.

They can fire you if you are not showing up to work.

Do they offer FMLA and/or disability? Have you applied? In most cases you are protected but need to provide more detailed information to get a correct answer.

They can depending on how long your injury causes you to miss work, the agreements within your contract, and the actual job you're performing. Talk with your boss in a respectable tone asking what you can do in the meantime to help the business (bosses love this). If you listen to your superiors without complaining and honestly put effort to get back to work, they probably won't fire you (depending of course on how long you are disabled).

They can't fire you from the foot injury but they have to offer you work that will not interfere with your injury as long as you have a physician limitation. If you don't want to do the job they give you while you are healing then they can fire you.

I don't know what the Better business bureau will do for you but I can tell you to get a hold of your deptarment of labor for the state you work in. if you are in a right to work state then you may have a problem. you are entitled to take time off on the family medical leave act, but that has a set time period before you have to return to work before you are dismissed. you will need all relevant medical information to provide your employer in order to qualify. still you will need to talk with the department of labor to make sure your rights are covered. if there is a loophole in any laws or acts you will want to know about them before you get into a confrontation with you employer and end up looking really bad for it.

Why not? You are not working and they have work to do. They'll have to hire someone else to do your job. Are you a union member? If so, see what they say.
There are no labor laws that are being broken. If your employer has a heart and you are worth the trouble, they may hold the job open.

Since you are on disability I would contact a lawyer and the State labor department about your employer. They cannot fire you while you are on workmen's compensation.

Do a search for you state. Find your's states home page. For California, it is http://www.ca.gov/

There you will find employment laws and what your rights are.

If you are on a 1099, then they may terminate your contract.
