How many people think that Dumbledore was right in trusting Snape? I for one do think that he was right for trusting him (although he does kill him). If you read the 6th book (Page 405-406 (U.S. edition), Hagid tells Harry that Dumbledore and Snape had a row about something and Dumbledore says that he agreed to do it-which makes me think that Dumbledore knew that he was going to die and why he was arguing with Snape because he knew Malfoy wouldn't be able to do it (and Snape would die for breaking the vow). Let me know what you think!

i have two contridicting theorys in my head.
i know snape had to kill dumbledore, he had no choice with the spell from the beginning the unbreakable vow said that if draco couldnt do the job snape would finish it.
i know snape twitched his hand when that was said meaning he did not wish to kill dumbledore but couldnt blow his cover.
i know that snape knew about harry being on the roof and did not try to kill him.
snape then let harry live on the school grounds and kept others away from him.

all that points to snape being good.

my other theory is that snape wasnt working for either voldemort or dumbledore but for his own interests.

i believe that severus snape is more powerful than even voldemort but voldemort has no idea of the threat that is posed by him.

snape will help harry kill voldemort and then start a row between himself and harry where one will die in the attempt.

snape has never been one to join the group good or bad but he always came up with his own spells and potions. he is a powerful loaner who wont take to serving anyone but wishes to have servents of his own.

I agree. Dumbledore and Snape had an arrangement, and understanding. At first I didn't think Dumbledore was actually dead (Since the point of the book was learning to say spells in your head) I figured he said the death spell but actually did a petrifying spell or something. BUT JK has said in numerous interviews that he IS dead... so that theory is out.

I think that Snape is not all bad. I think that Malfoy might not turn out to be all bad either, I think that Snape is supposed to watch over him or something...

we will find out in july :)

YAY I love Harry Potter questions :-) :-) :-)

I personally believe that Snape is indeed evil. Why would he agree to the vow in the FIRST place if he wasn't? Don't tell me that he would've blown his cover if he refused to give that vow...he's supposedly this great mastermind and manipulator...he could've convinced Narcissa that he would protect her son WITHOUT giving that vow causing him to kill Dumbledore...

And JK Rowling always talks about that "gleam" in Snape's eyes..and how he speaks with loathing and utter contempt.

And let's not forget that Snape IS in Slytherin. To BE in Slytherin, you have to be coy and deviant in some way...If Snape's PERSONA is INDEED good and he's just pretending...the Sorting Hat would've discovered this and placed him in...pshhh let's say Ravenclaw for his brilliancy in Potions and concealment. But it didn't...he WAS placed in Slytherin....

Well that's my view on it!! I CANNOT WAIT for the last book...I can't believe it's the last book :-( :-( :-( But I still can't wait!!! :-D

Are we really sure it was Snape? It may have been someone using polyjuice potion ( I hope) Maybe in the beginning of the next book we'll find Snape knocked over the head, completly oblivious of the situation.

I'm sure he is good...

When Harry went to the ministry in Order of the Phoenix... Snape was the one who called the order and told them. He didn't have to do that.
