Could be a number of things. I would recommend taking it to your local Auto Zone so they can hook it up to a computer and get the codes for you. This may only give you a general idea though. Often times they can't pin-point it to an exact cause. If that doesn;t get it fixed, I'd take it to a local shop and for about $40 they should be able to tell you exactly what it is. Heck, may be something as simple as a vacuum leak or O2 Sensor.
Very good luck.

If it idles rough, you probably have a miss on one cylinder, thats what is causing your chk engine light to come on.If you are mech inclined, chk the plugs & wires. If not take it to a shop & have it scanned.Good luck

the others have it right. have it scanned. If I were to go by your description only the first few things I would look into are your crank position sensor, your cam position sensor or the iac. Not so much th iac unless the other two are good.

i own a repair shop, and before you spend any money on it at all take it to auto zone and have them scan it to see what made the check engine light come on,its probably got a bad sensor on it ,causing this to happen, and that will show up when they scan it,and its free also, good luck i hope this helps.

It's all about the codes. That's the great thing about late model cars. They tell you what's wrong with them, but you need the gismo to check out the codes. Take it to Autozone. They'll hook you up.
