The 1993 movie you are talking about is "True Romance" starring Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, and Christopher Walken. Also Brad Pitt has a small cameo as a drugged out roommate, this is an all-star cast for a great movie which was written by Quentin Tarantino.
If you watch all of Tarantino's work throughout the years all the characters are mentioned in other films as well also many of the stars have appeared in other films that Tarantino have done.
I give this movie 5 stars and recommend watching it if you have not yet done so.

Go on line to the Internet Movie Database, type in Patricia Arquett, and it will list all her movies, with plots & etc.
It is a great resource for any entertainment related questions.
