yes and no. i know they care they don't need to call to tell me......

It has to go both ways. If you care enough about them, try calling them. It can't just be one sided. If you don't hear from them after a call or two. Chalk it up to either they are very busy or don't give a crap about anyone but themselves. If they truly cared they would call unless something is preventing them from doing so. If you have not talked to them, then chances are, something may be going on that you have no clue about. So, try calling them. No more then three messages within a week. Anymore then three would seem obsessive. Realize people have other things going on in their life then just yourself. Call a few times within a week and half time span, if no response, let it go. They will get in touch with you then on their own time. Then perhaps, they can fill you in of whats been going on in their life within that period they have not talked to you.

They probably dont call as one of the kids more than likely thought they were an indian call centre phoning and gave them the usual run around. My youngest is the best at it and when we get telemarketers we just pass the phone to him. He has us in fits. The last person who phoned believed that he was a female prostitute who teaches on the side earning $30 an hour. We figure if they insist on phoning they can at least provide amusement.

Maybe they know that you know they care and that they don't have to call often to remind you that they do.
On my part though, I don't, because I'm the one who calls. If they don't call me, I call them.
