No picking a balance of both. Pick one or the other. They are similar in many ways but have distinct differences.

I am going to phrase the question how I intended it to be perceived.

Would you rather have a vast knowledge or an aptitude to maximize use of what knowledge you have.
I believe there is an obvious difference between people who have a large capacity of knowledge and those who are capable of applying it.

People of great intelligence (and the curiosity that accompanies it) usually find a way to obtain a great education, inside or outside of school. If these individuals are fortunate enough also to have a healthy amount of common sense, there's no stopping them!

As a contrast, George W. Bush went to an elite prep school, and then to Yale. Need I say more?

The question is street smarts or school smarts, its a no brain-er, common sense goes a lot farther than brains. There are a lot of idiots out there who have PhD and labeled genius but do not have a clue how to operate a gumball machine. On the other hand there are a lot of street savvy people who make a nice living, but they don't have a nice life, or able to spend enough time with their family. So what would you rather have a good life for your family and have to pay for all of the every day services, or work all your life?

Well, of course intelligence is useless if you can't apply it. How would you be beneficial to the world if you had great intelligence and couldn't use it to solve problems? I choose an aptitude to maximize use of the knowledge I had.

Here's my opinion.
On a 'spiritual' level, I'd say it's better to have great intelligence. In my personal life, I'd choose this.
On a 'career' level, you'd NEED the intelligence AND education, in some cases.
I also think 'great education' is based on opinion only. To one person, it may be a great education, to another it may not be enough.
Sorry for all the quotes, but it's the only way I can get my point across via the internet. lol

Great intelligence. Some of the strongest minds and ambitious minds are of people who had little education. They get there education from learning outside of a classroom, yet they still seek knowledge.

I would rather be capable of putting that knowledge to use and apply it in my life. Book knowledge is great, but if you can't apply it then what else can you do with it?

You need to have a good education in order to gain knowledge. So, a good education is actually better, because the more education you have the more you gain knowledge. Good question!

Intelligence is most important, of course. Education without the ability to apply it is worthless.
