a) the force

If momentum changes, then either the mass changes or the velocity changes. In most cases, it's just the velocity that changes. If the velocity changes, then an acceleration is bein applied. Since F = ma, we must have a force.

Impulse is incorrect. Impulse is F * t. This is the same is momentum...

F * t = m * a * t = m * (v / t) * t = m * v

the higher the force, the higher the momentum, so force has a direct proportion so the answer is force
