How is Kobe Bryant a ball hog? He takes the shots when the shot clock's winding down because he is the best player on the team to take those shots. Who do you suggest he pass the ball to? Kwame Brown? No offence to Kwame but Kobe strokes it a little better. If you look at the stats from Kobe's 81 point game, you'll see that he was hitting his free throws, and he was shooting above 50% at 28/46. He shot 7/13 from the three point line, and 18-20 fro the free throws line. He also had 6 rebounds, 3 steals 1 block 2 assists and 3 turnovers. The assists and tos arent spectacular, but he was on that night. He had 39 points of treys and free throws alone, and shot 21/33 (64%) inside the arch. If you like at his teamate's shooting, it was poor. Odom 1/7 Kwame 1/5 Parker 5/11. The best was Chris Mihm with 5/8 and 12 points. Doesn't give a whole lot of encouragement for passing, and might explain those 2 assists.
This season he is averaging
PPG
30.8
RPG
5.80
APG
5.4
STL
1.4
TO
3.4
MPG
40.4
I used to be a Kobe basher too, but the funny thing was, like most of you probably, I never watched any of his games. I've watched a couple this season, and he is just amazing. It's time to face the truth- Kobe Bryant is probably the best basketball player in the NBA today.

Ok so what? hes a ball-hog
how many guys can score 81 points even if they hogged the ball the whole game ?? Gervin is a legend and 1 of the 50 best players regardless ..., so is Robinson.
its not his fault the rest of his team doesn't score.
Lakers would be no where without Kobe being a ball-hog

Both in a sense. Kobe does have talent, but he abuses it by ball- hogging.
Personally, I used to like Kobe when Shaq was still on Lakers, but since Shaq left, Kobe has the mental thought of being the leader, which also proves that he's a ball- hog

It proves that he has talent and that he is a ballhog. If you don't have talent, then you wouldn't be able to score any points, even if you open all the time.
If you have talent, but you are never open, and you never pass the ball, then you won't be able to score any points.

I find it to be BOTH! Both because he's trying to carry the Lakers team, but a ball-hog because 1) he's trying to carry the team, and 2) he doesn't have a very strong supporting cast.
