I agree that their exploits have damaged the reputation of the Republican Party, however they are not the reason for the Republican Party's downfall. The religious zealot right (you must live by our moral standard) and the conservative far right (we know what's best for you and you'll like it mister), have done more damage to the party than these two. That being said both parties are systematically stealing our constitutional rights. The Republicans-our personal freedoms and the Dems our economic liberties (we're gonna give your hard earned money to those who won't earn it for themselves). They are more interested in what's good for the party than with what's good for it's citizens. The Communist Manifesto is being realized in the land of the previously free. I ask you not to believe me just because I say it. Research it fo yourself. In 1963 the Communist Goals were entered into the Congressional record by Albert Herlong, Jr. (a Floridian who served in Congress from 1949-69). See how many on the list have come to fruition. If we don't stand up, this will no longer be OUR country.

Some people will always have their kook followers no matter what they did. It's American folklore. Charles Manson has followers!
Bush could Nuke China tomorrow and we could get destroyed, and his followers would defend it.
They aren't interested in poltic's, they need a leader, right or wrong! They like the money!
I am not sure why they did what they did because they presented a lot of evidence against Iraq that they KNEW was false. They presented the same lies to congress when he got their votes.
I think Bush and Cheney saw some one with oil, who we knew were essentially on their knees from Operation Desert Fox and the decade long Blockaid, and they knew Iraq had an army that would run and not fight from their ouster from Kuwait, who still isn't a democracy as promised! The big oil companies were pushing for an attack as they had lost all their oil contracts with Iraq to France and Russia!
They thought in and out of Iraq with no problem, but BUSH didn't listen to his father!
"Bush said that within 30 seconds Powell had Schwarzkopf on the phone assuring him that the mission had been accomplished.
"I don't believe in mission creep," he continued. "Had we gone into Baghdad -- we could have done it, you guys could have done it, you could have been there in 48 hours -- and then what?
"Which sergeant, which private, whose life would be at stake in perhaps a fruitless hunt in an urban guerilla war to find the most-secure dictator in the world?
"Whose life would be on my hands as the commander-in-chief because I, unilaterally, went beyond the international law, went beyond the stated mission, and said we're going to show our macho?" he asked. "We're going into Baghdad. We're going to be an occupying power -- America in an Arab land -- with no allies at our side. It would have been disastrous."
Bush said, "We don't gain the size of our victory by how many innocent kids running away -- even though they're bad guys -- that we can slaughter. ... We're American soldiers; we don't do business that way."
We do now George!
Bush didn't know what he was doing and he didn't listen, all over oil!

It is too bad that he is such a poor president so full of Greed!

They have not maliciously destroyed the Republican Party. There are people who do not agree with President Bush's policies, but this is nothing new. Almost every President has had people who did not agree with their policies while they were in office. Time often proves their decisions were right.

Even Clinton rode off into the sunset. So did Nixon. So do all outgoing Presidents, assuming they outlive their posts.
The party doesn't stand or fall on a President. No matter how much the opposition might wish it.
It's one of our many checks and balances, and powers of the people.
Nice quote, Argle: Hillary said that.

The Party will bounce back, just as the Democrats did after the Clinton debacle.

The republicans are being seriously embarrassed by this administration. I predict the scandals that are being uncovered daily is only the tip of the iceberg.

Why worry about the damage they have done to the republican party? Worry about what they have done to America and the world.

The problem is that good centerist Republicans will pay the price. They don't care, just like they don't care about anything else. They have been "Roveized".

Self serving ineptitude mostly - with a strong dose of "we're the Presidents, we can do whatever we want".
