I don't think that is superficial, I think it is genuine thanks. It IS kinda sad we don't know who our 'voters' are, but it is nice that someone (you) thought of thanking them.

You are gonna get a lot of best answers most likely...you can personally thank people via email because chances are, people won't even be reading this that voted your answer as best. You don't have to thank everyone either.
