Check out the ultimate thing for a tourist to do in Berlin:

The (In)famous Berlin Pub Crawl

The same company also publishes a free Berlin city guide which you can use. The tips in there are excellent. You can pick it up at most of the hostels.

Overall, Berlin is very cheap compared to all other European cities. Unlike London or Paris, you can go out and into almost any bar without being totally broke after one drink.

There are some hot spots regarding bars and music cafés.

If you did sightseeing in City West: Akazienstrasse/Goltzstrasse/Winterfeldplatz in Schoeneberg (south of station Nollendorfplatz and around Eisenacher strasse) is one great area. The other one is in Kreuzberg around Bergmannstrasse/Mehringdamm (metro Mehringdamm/Gneisenaustrasse). Avoid the area around Kurfuerstendamm in Charlottenburg as it's too expensive, same with Potsdamer Platz!

In the east, head to Oranienburger Strasse (nice: Aufsturz with it's over 100 beers, sometimes also concerts. For live music and/or dancing: Zapata in the ex-squat and now artists house "Tacheles") and the area around Hackescher Markt. A bit cheaper and more to the east is Simon-Dach-Strasse with around 50 bars/restaurants per 300 meters.

Some good beer gardens: Pfefferberg at Senefelder Platz, Prater at Kastanienallee (metro Eberswalder str., also a good area for bars).

You will LOVE Berlin! It's a beautiful city. There is one bar (that I actually remember). The name of it was AM/PM, because it is literally opened 24 hours. I don't know if I would consider it the ultimate tourist attraction, but it was cool. You will have a blast no matter what bar you end up in, trust me.

depends on what you call cheap prices and how old you are...
there are several nice clubs and bars in berlin (Sage Clube, Dante, 90°,...). i can suggest you to look for the very nice beach bars at the spree!

... and the oktoberfest takes place in munich, not in berlin.

njoy germany!
