hi tyc_70! limewire is a peer-to-peer (p2p) file sharing program/network where u can find/share/download music for free from other users on the limewire network. is it legal? it really depends on how limewire is used and what songs are being downloaded/shared - if the songs are copyrighted material then it is probably illegal to share/download those songs on limewire. but there *may* be non-copyrighted material on limewire that is legal to share/download.

itunes is not a peer-to-peer system and the songs downloaded from itunes have been provided to itunes legally. music generally costs $$ from itunes, but there is a lot of FREE content as well in the itunes store in the "podcasts" section, including videos! u can also get movie trailers for free from the itunes store. one of the biggest advantages of itunes is the seamless integration with ipods.

if u r on itunes, please subscribe to my FREE video podcast on iTunes: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=183309259

The main different between Limewire and iTunes is that Limewire is mostly for downloading content, while iTunes allows you to purchase content and organize your music and movies.

Downloading from iTunes is legal, unless you're in a country where it's illegal. However, if your in the US or Canada, no problems. Limewire downloads all depend on what you are downloading. If it is something that is being sold, it probably is illegal. If it is a music group that is giving it's music away for free on Limewire then it's good.

Limewire is getting sued by the RIAA. If history is any judge, their business model will fail, or will be modified to suit the people that are being damaged by thieves. Nearly everything downloaded with Limewire violates copyright, as all the other P2P software development companies have adjusted their business model to begin engaging in legal business, or have evaporated. The only one left is Limewire, so that is where the pirates go.

iTunes is busy stealing $ from consumers by selling them music with limited usefulness, with respect to it's portability and recoverability.

itunes is legal and its own downloading and mp3 player application (for the ipod or things that use itunes to put music and sync with them.) limewire is just a downloading program that has people put the downloads up to share with the people that are downloading. it is illegal to use limewire basic but if you get the limewire pro which you pay i think its 18.99 but im not sure, its legal since you pay something for it. i hope i answered your question and gave you any other helpful information!!

Alright, this is some sincerely decent customers which can be of course malware free and are truly respected with the aid of folks who don't seem to be so elitist to snivel at any and all varieties of P2P but Bittorent. I might recommend you a paid website online, however DRM is obnoxious, and there is no such monthly subscription web sites for video. *Amule/Emule (Edonky 2000) *Gnucleus/Limewire (Gnutella community, equal one as Limewire uses). *SoulSeek/Nicotine+ (SoulSeek) *Deluge, Transmission, Utorrent (Bittorent trackers) *Ares (Ares network. Be aware: Some humans are taking the respectable Sourceforge-hosted down load, bundling malware, and charging cash. Ares ultra is only one such rip-off. Oh, the nerve...) *Newsagent- (Usenet binaries- grabs movies and lossless song (amongst different matters) on the maximum velocity of your broadband connection. You may must sign up with a feed provider)

ITunes is put out by Apple and you need to pay 99 cents per song to download music.

I don't know who makes Limewire but as far as I know, they have a version you pay for and a version you don't. The one you pay for is legal, the one you don't pay for is not.

It is illegal to download music without paying for it.

i personally HATE itunes
the ease of use is nonexistent!
limewire technically is not legal
if you are not paying for music it is illegal unless you have the record company's consent
but hey
who cares?
