I have been receiving many collect calls from the same man from a local jail. I have been denying them, but now today they started coming from a Dallas, TX area code. The call says to call an 800 number if we want to stop the calls, we did and they said it was a $35 charge for the service, so we just hung up. Has anyone else heard of this??

It's a scam of some sort; there's no fee to prevent unwanted calls from correctional facilities.

If this continues, I suggest you contact either your local police department or your phone company's security. This almost sounds like a shakedown scam.
