Short answer...yes. Congress is needed to declare war, but the President can initiate any military strike he deems necessary.

The president is the sole commander in chief of the military, meaning that he can do whatever he wants, until congress convicts him and throws him out of office. Congress's ability to declare war is nothing but a symbolic authority. Otherwise, it's a "police action", like Vietnam was.

Without a doubt, Yes!!! Don't worry though, it will be someone else (we as allies to that nation) will by our constitution and the Christian way of life, will have to intervene. The religion of Islam wants you dead. Period. You are in the beginning of Armageddon The middle east has always been about religion, in their eyes if you don't convert you need to die. Their weird that way. they are taught from birth to kill all that don't follow Allah. (Infidels) I say pull out and let them come. Be prepared though.

President Bush is the Commander in Chief of the U.S. in spite of the jerks in Congress who want to change our Constitution. Not many of them have an exceptional I.Q. but have to rely on the polls to tell them how to think.
