Ok. my betta fish just spawned today, with the female dropping about 10-20 eggs. I was so excited, but do you know what happened? Nothing, the male did not pick up the eggs off the floor of the 10 gallon tank. There is no gravel on the bottom either. Help me, what should i do, they did so about 20 minutes ago and its still down there!

There are a few possibilities to consider. 10-20 eggs is about 10% of what you should be seeing. Look very closely in the bubble nest and make sure there aren't many more already there. If not, then the female was not well conditioned and really full of eggs. If this is the first time spawning these two, there could be problems from that. Sometimes it take a few spawnings for a male to get things right. Also, they will spawn together several times before they are finished. Give them a little more time and see what happens. If nothing more happens within a few hours, separate them again.

Just keep trying.

As you know, males are usually kind of slow - and this happens in all species :))

There might have been something wrong with the eggs, or maybe he just doesnt quite know what to do yet, this is not uncommon.

Try a few more times, he should start to show some interest.

you could take the male and female out of the water (before they eat or something...) and lower the water level ALOT...hmmm well I'm not really that good...but here is a site: It tells you how to hatch betta eggs fatherless.
