I can't remember BOTH teams in the Stanley Cup final missing the play-offs the following year. Habitat-research that for me LOL-just kidding, take it easy..
Anyways, I could be mistaken on this. Can anyone confirm??

BOTH teams in the Stanley Cup final have never missed the playoffs the following season.
I heard this on TSN during a game a few days ago.

its never actually happen in the history of the game. teams that have failed after making the finals the previous years are (03 Mighty Ducks, 02 Hurricanes, 98 Capitals, and 95 Devils all missed the playoffs the following year), but it's never happened that both have missed. this might be the season for the record books.

i saw this on t.v. never in the history of hockey have both teams who reached the cup finals fail to make the playoffs

Technically, Colorado missed the playoffs when they were the Quebec Nordiques. Same franchise, different city, different laundry.

Hasn't happened yet... though at this point it very well may happen for the first time. Carolina's still on the bubble though, don't count them out yet. the Oilers have no chance though.
