I just bought the Cub Cadet LT 1050 and it will be shipped in couple of days.

After buying it I looked up the reviews and sure enaugh read some bad things about it.

We have to mowe about 1.5 acres and some even and some uneven tarrane; do you think it will be ok for us to keep or should we get another one?

They are pretty tough. I used to work for IH and we used them for maintenance. The ones we had used the hydrostatic drive.. We would run it wide open and when we wanted to stop instead of hitting the brakes we threw the hydrostatic lever all the way to full reverse. The wheels would spin backwards and we would still be going forward, when we got close to coming to a full stop we would jam the lever into neutral. The whole time I was there, I never saw one tear up and I never saw one leak fluid out of the hydro drive.
We were using the 21HP models made back in the early 80's

One other thing that might help. You can buy a finishing mower reels to pull behind the cadet. These are great, you will not scalp the lawn and it will cut with a scissor action. We had a 3 gang reel mower set up and cut a acre. Always did a beautiful job. They are a little expensive considering but they are worth it. You can cut a 5-6ft path that really helps too. Good luck.

Cub Cadet is made by John Deere. Made in the same building on parallel lines. I live in rural Ar. Have two lawn tractors. One John Deere and one MTD which I built myself from three old trashed mowers. Cadet is an average mower. People abuse these small tractors badly. Upkeep is a must. and it is constant. Smile. Especially in uneven terrain.

Cub Cadets generally have a poor rating when it comes to reliability and durability. But, you bought it, so good luck with that.
