How do I add subtitles/text to a clip in Sony Vegas 7? I clicked on the clip I wanted it on and I inserted the text I wanted, but all it does is make a new text file! It doesn't put the subtitles ON the clip. D:

I'm not sure about subtitles but if you want text to appear with your main video in the background then you need to add a video track directly above your main video track in other wards if you have one video track it's likely (1). Add a video track and drag it above track (1). It will now become (1) and your main video is now track (2).

Select the section you want to add text to. If it creates a text object in both (1) and (2), click on the text object in (2) and delete it. Edit the text object in (1) as you want it.

On the PROPERTIES tab of your text object make sure your background colour slider is set to the bottom most position (alpha 0.00%). Your text should now be overlayed on your main video stream. You can use this method to make subtitles that are permanently encoded into your video.

If you want subtitles of different languages that can be chosen by the viewer of a AVI for example you will have to use some other software package that will create and playback the subtitles. If you are creating a dvd, then the subtitles should be programed in DVD architect or what ever dvd authoring software you are using.

I am no expert with Vegas video but that is the only way i could figure out how to do it. I hope the information helps you in the right direction.
