Getting pregnant/having a child and quitting high school (it’s different if you’re paying support for a child in college and they quit college) are not emancipating events. You still have to pay child support.

The concept of child support should be your last worry. YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE GRANDCHILDREN DUDE....WAKE UP!
Hopefully your sense of responsibility will go far beyond the idea of child support.
Your daughter needs support in so many ways that a book could be written.
Have you realized what grandparents are suppose to do?
I would imagine that you are a fairly young person so this is going to tax your brain and your energy....but your daughter needs you to support her in every way possible....and money is just the first way.
Set up a small college fund for the twins the minute they are born...small.....the gesture is what counts.
Other than the practical stuff....just hug her and tell her that you are there for her.
BE LOVING
AND IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW
START PRACTICING

Yes i think you still have to pay until the child is 18 years of age. you should be glad you are going to be a grandparent and love those twins and spoil them rotten and support your child in raising them and be the BEST grandparent you can be and get lots of pics when they are born and make lots of memories. Enjoy your grandchildren no matter what! Be a loving and supportive parent though all of this for your daughter as well. Contact an attorney or your local family court and ask them about this as well. I am sure they will be able to help you with this.

Ouch...that's a rough one dad. And here's more bad news. Not only do you have to pay child support until she reaches the age of 18, but you may end up with the bill for the birth of those babies because she is still a minor.

Lucky for you there is a loophole in the system. Have your daughter emancipate herself. She can get on the system for medical assistance which will take care of the bill and it takes you off of the obligation to pay support. I normally don't tell people that, but in the long run, it's going to save you and the ex a fortune in expenses, as well as your daughter.

And dad, one more thing. Since your daughter has already chosen to take the hard way on her start to life....help guide her back in the right direction by being there for her. I know it's not going to be one of your proudest moments as a father, but you could just be her saving grace. Being a parent has very little to do with money...but it has everything to do with that bond we have with our children. She has made a mistake...help her work through it.

Nope its 18 or 21 if she goes to college. I were 17 when I got prego and my father paid till i were 18.. He even set me up with my own bank/savings account this way the child support went to me and not to my mother. Wow! Good luck on your daughter she is def going to need alot of support. Just having one baby at 17 is hard enough. And the babies father were a dead beat and never had anything to do with his child. My son is now 12 yrs old and still dont know his father. I lucked out and married a guy when he were 2 yrs old and that his father and his real father were a sperm doner. I just hate these dead beat dads that dont pay support or have anything to do with there kids. I am so glad my son dont know his father because that messes with kids minds.

if you love your child you would under eighteen is a child and besides that your child needs more help now more than ever your little child support will be a drop in the bucket. hopefully your 17 yr old will love there babies more than you loved them!!! just because your child made mistakes that still mean there a CHILD that made mistakes. After all your divorced you weren't perfect either it takes two to divorce or one too make the mistake and marry wrong person.

That depends on where you live! In NY you have to pay child support until the child is married or turns 18. If the child is in school then you have to pay til they are 24 I believe unless they are married. I would have to say to contact someone at your local child support agency and see what they have to say! Hope this helps!

If you'd of raised your child right instead of paying child support maybe your child wouldn't be a pregnant high-school dropout. Quit sniveling, and write those checks.

I'm willing to bet you're one of the following: (1) A gangster
(2) A hick

You shouldn't have had children if you couldn't afford them. I'd say something is seriously wrong with your family if you're asking about having to pay for your 17 year old CHILD, your CHILD is having children, and you're divorced from your wife. I'm sure she's a real winner, too. Seems like mommy allowed child to get knocked up. Real tight family Mr. Wave of the future.

What kind of Ghetto fabulous question is that? Until his/or her rotton butt is 18 you will have to pay his/her Mom something! Why would you want to not pay it? They need it now more then ever and besides there your grandchildren Gramps!

What kind of kid is having twins, sounds like they lack guidance and is out of control. Looks like they needed you before now and now you trying to back out on the support! Talking about making life hard!
