... would that explain why he's such a lousy shot sometimes, such a marvelous shot sometimes, and uses terms like "perimeter sweep"? It might also explain why he fails all the time at his con jobs.
I hardly expect this to be the case, but I figured I'd toss it out there.
(Haven't seen the Sawyer flashback this season, but it's a thought that I had. I just noticed it in today's episode, so there you go.)

ETA: Crooked cop, sure. But if he were undercover for the con jobs, that wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.

Interesting idea, but I don't think so. Sawyer's role wouldn't make much sense then, I think. He's a "ne'er do well" and him being a "good guy" or temporarily, spins the whole thing off balance. Of course, the dudes in "Lost" do that frequently anyway, but my theory is that Sawyer is a former drug pusher.
