For the purpose of this Rule, the point of last contact with the puck by the Team in possession shall be used to determine whether icing has occurred or not. As such, the Team in possession must "gain the line" in order for the icing to be nullified. "Gaining the line" shall mean that the puck (not the player's skate) must make contact with the center red line in order to nullify a potential icing

basically if you dump it before the red line and it goes past the roal line without anyone touching it and the other team touches it behind the goal line its icing and goes back down to the dumping teams defensive end.

This occurs when a puck is shot by one team from thier own line of center past the goal line of the opposing team (goal line extends out past the net for this reason), and have it touched by a member of the opposing team. If Icing is called, the result is a face-off deep in the shooting teams end, at the circle closest to the infraction. Icing can be cancelled (waved off) if:

1) The team shooting the puck is shorthanded
2) The team shooting the puck is the first to touch it
3) If the goaltender touches the puck
4) If the puck goes into the net (the goal counts)
5) If the referee determines you are not making an effort to get to the puck simply to get the call, it can be waved off for this reason.

If a player shoots the puck with out gaining center ice and the puck doesn't enter the goalie's trapezoid behind the net. If the team that shot the puck gets there first, there is no icing, but if the opposing team gets to the puck first, it is icing.

its when a player from one team hits the puck from inside their own zone, looking to clear the puck away from the goal, and the puck goes all the way down the rink past the line that is even with the other teams goal. Then if the team whose goal it passed touches it, thats icing. But if the team who cleared it got to the puck first, no icing call

Icing is when a player from one team shoots the puck from the neutral zone behind the other team's net, and the other team touches it first. I think that if icing happens, whoever it is against cannot change their lines or something... i don't know!

short and simple:

team A is behind the center line (their nuetral zone) and hits the puck behind team b's goal net. Team B touches the puck (excluding the goalie) and it's icing.

The purpose is so that you don't just chuck the puck from attacking zone to attacking zone. That's called tennis.

its when one player shoots the puck down the ice from their zone. or in other words when one player shoots the puck behind the red line and it goes over the goal line.
