In my experience, the best printers that money can buy are Canon printers. Prices range across the board, depending on your wants and needs and, they do have some inexpensive ones as well. Another good thing is that they make models with individual ink tanks, but others with the traditional black and color cartridges as well.

Two inexpensive models that you could look at are the PIXMA iP1700 and PIXMA iP1800. These two have the black and tri-colour cartridges and cost a mere $50.00 US. According to Canon's own site, the ink is not expensive either, which is rare for less expensive inkjets.

You can also take a look at Lexmark, as they are the KINGS of cheap printers. There is, as always,s a catch though; the ink is pretty expensive. They're also not the best in print quality. But if that's not your priority, it is a good alternative.

You can also find cheaper models in the HP lime, but their cheaper models aren't always built to last very long, in my experience at least. And I'd shy away from Epsons, which do a good high-quality job, but tend to be ink guzzlers.

Canon seems to give a better overall package across the line. Therefore, I would recommend going with one of theirs.

Look at Canon because they are great printers. Even though you may not like printers with 4 ink cartridges look at them because they work out cheaper to run that printers that only have 2 because different colours run out or ink at different rates, and the 4 cartridges hold more ink. Look at the canon IP4300 because i have one and it is a great printer. The 4 inks last me about 9 months, they are easy to refill and if you don't like re filling they are cheap to purchase anyway
