Try to individualize their lessons by making folders for them wherein they can choose the assignments they would like to do. Give them choices of how they exhibit knowledge of content by allowing them to create PowerPoint presentations, posters, drawings, music, poetry, diagrams, etc. Use your special education teacher and gifted and talented teacher or coordinators to assist you in finding resources for them and in creating lessons for them. Explain to your entire class that your class is a learning community and that everyone can contribute to lessons in their own ways. When teaching, start at the bottom and go to the top. That way you do not miss any student. I know you are pressured by standards and state testing, but push students to take charge of their learning by giving them assignments that allow them to explore and learn from each other and grade according to what they learn. Get the student with SLD some individualized assistance from a special education teacher since he/she will have to take the state test. Make sure his IEP has all accommodations he/she will need to be successful on the test (test read aloud, tested individually with breaks, etc.)

Remember that the first definition of a student with learning disabilities is that they have above average intelligence. They are gifted and talented with a learning disability that does not let that gift be seen. Those two students have much more in common that you believe. The only accomodation you may have to make is allowing the student with sld deficits more time to speak and write.
