I drove from Virginia Beach, VA. to Santa Clara, Ca., left Va. Bch. about 9am on a Saturday morning and arrived in Santa Clara at about noon on Wednesday. Spent 4 nights in motels, drove near speed limit, no excessive stopping, and it was a wonderful trip. I drove alone, would start out early from wherever I stayed to avoid traffic - enjoyed every mile of it.

From Wasau ,WI to Sarasota, Florida 26 hs drive plus 4 hrs of sleep in a rest area. Very good experience. I drove once from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Camboriu , Brazil .That was like 22 hs but worst for the road conditions and the trafic . If I know I can pass Colombia without being kill for a cartel I would like drive from FL, USA to patagonia Argentina , some day!!

depends do you plan to stop and sight see along the way, or just drive and not get to see the USA???? it will take several days, either way, it is a lot of driving for one person???
