I'm trying to breed my bettas and they are still chasing each other around...well the male keeps chasing her. As people who breed know that we have to put half a styrofoam cup in the tank...well my female keeps running onto the cup!! like literally stuck, I keep having to knock on the glass before she'd jump off...is this okay?? I dunno what to do...

You mean she's jumping outside the water onto the top of the styro? If so, she's terrified and is trying to escape and should be removed before she gets hurt. The male is being too aggressive and not courting her correctly. Condition them again, and start all over. If she's swimming under the styro and hanging out under the cup, then she's trying to indicate to the male that she's here so let's get it on but he may not be getting the message. At any rate, if no breeding is happening after a few hours, take them out, recondition and try again.

That just means she is trying to escape from the male. The mating is not a success. Please remove her from the tank.
A female betta must be 'primed' for many days on live food to make sure she has lots of eggs and is ready for mating.
After that, she must be introduced into the male's tank and be observed. If mating does not take place in about 15-20minutes, she needs to be removed for her own safety.
She should then be placed in her own tank and be fed a high-protein diet to get her eggs ready again. I'm really simplifying the process but I hope this helps.
Hope you didn't just leave the two of them in a tank for good.

Meaning: they are not compatible loh. Do remove her from the tank (before she got killed by the male). Betta are not machine, not every pairs will match up and breed..
Dun give up, re-condition ur betta back to their top form, change a new pairing, maybe it will work out a better results.
