My husband and I have been married almost a year and we hardly ever call each other by our first names -- we use names like, "honey", "baby" and a variety of other pet names -- but very rarely our actual first names. Anyone else do this? Is there a healthy limit to this kind of behavior?

I have funny little nicknames for my wife, and they change from time to time. Its fun and playful and I won't stop...but I admit, she does want to hear her name every now and then.

My husband and i do this all the time we call each other honey and dear and names like that. We hardly ever call each other by first names. This is healthy and fun and very romantic and keeps love alive if you ask me. Keep on doing this:) This is great and never should stop! My husband and i have been doing this for going on nine years and it is not getting old or out of style for us. In fact it helps us stay strong and we hold hands all the time as well. you go girl!

I don't see anything wrong. To me by calling each other with pet names is a form of showing affection. My husband and I have been using pet names to call each other since courtship time to now (we have been married for 10mths now). We seldom call each other by our first names also.
My cousin who has been married for nearly 3 yrs is still using pet names with her husband too. So I feel it is a form of affection and I am envious.
Hopefully, my husband will be using pet names until the day I die...

Oh man, I do this all the time. Baby, Sweetie, Honey, Shoomkus, Sweetheart, Suger, Sweet Pants, Red Hot Mama

I got 'em all down. I kinda like doing that. It always reminds me that I married someone I love intensely and it's my way of showing affection.

It is a known fact that human beings love the sound of their name when it is called out. Personally, I don't play those pet names on a non stop basis. You do realize that you can wear out anything if you use it too much.

The ONLY time my hubby and I call each other by our actual names is when we're mad! (we use other names then too!) We have been married almost 8 yrs. so I think it's wonderful!

I called my husband of 5 months by his name the other day and literally stopped to remember if I said the right name. I call his bubba and he calls me bub or babe. Do you think this will go away as we are married longer?

The only time my husband and I call each other by our given names are when we're mad at each other. Otherwise, it's honey or sweetheart or some other pet name.

When my hubby calls me anything other than "baby", I think somethings wrong with him. And he's the same way with me. We've been married 20 years, and started calling each other baby before we married, and been doing it ever since. I see nothing wrong with it.

I've ben with my husband 12 years and I can probably count the times he has used my name. I think it just depends on the relationship.
