Tonight one of my clients asked me to wash the dishes and she'd put them in the dishwasher. She already had them sitting in a basin with soapy water. Apparently this is the first time the elderly woman has ever had a dishwasher.

I scrape off any remains and rinse
if the dishwasher will be partially loaded
or it will sit a while before the washer is run
it makes sense to do a quick water rinse to remove
food particles and stuff that might dry and harden on dishes.

I AM the dishwasher now, lol, but I've had dishwashers in the past. I would just rinse them really well before I put them in. Some of the food that gets stuck can ruin your machine.

I don't have a dishwasher. At work, we have one that rinses the cups and glasses just fine, or plates used just for sandwitches, but it can't handle cups from soup or plates with any kind of more sticky stuff, unless you rinse very well... so when it's my turn to wash up there I do those by hand as well, but I don't put them in the dishwasher afterwards!

My dishwasher won't clean everything off the plates, so I have to wash them at least a little before putting them in the dishwasher. They'd be fine if they were soaking, though.

I do. I even started washing my dishes by hand, because I thought I would save money, by not using the dishwasher, but I still rinse the gooky stuff off, b4 I wash them by hand.

Yes, I do wash them first. I'm turning into my mother. I think it's because I don't have to run the dishwasher every day.

im in food service and the reason we wash them it to help remove food particles from the plates and other dishes and it helps in to aid in washing them in the dishwasher the dishwasher helps sanitize bc of the exstreme temperatures plus soap leaves a residue and that would help in removing the soap if im correct or maybe she just want to be safe and run them threw
