Is it possible that the market is being manipulated by forces that planned to make a buck off of it? Who or where do you think these forces come from? What is/are their intents?

All markets are affected by current events. Everything in the financial markets are related to each other. Markets do not like uncertainty, Certainty keeps everything the same, uncertainty puts, some things up and some things down on anticipation of the outcome of events.
That is why investing is not just understanding a companies profitability. Macro-economics and current events and world history also affect micro economic dealings.
