a few months ago, i received a message on myspace from this guy asking me who the girl on my profile was i told him she was my cousin and he explained that she was his cousin too turns out he and i also go to the same school. he is not my biological cousin, but since he has no other cousins in the u.s. i didnt mind when he told his friends i was his cousin, things were ok at first although after a while he started butting in too much, once he told me that my bf was not good enough and we got into a huge arguement about that. then about a month ago when my bf and i decided to take a break, it seemed like my "cousin" took over me. now i have a performance on friday in which i wear a skirt and he is telling me im not allowed to do the dance because he will not let me. and he told me that when i want to put up a picture on my myspace i have to ask him first and i can only have 1 pic up. it is my life and im old enough to make my own choices, how do i tell him to back off w/out hurting him?

I hate to say this. This guy sounds like an abusive control freak to me and someone help his girlfriend if he ever gets one. He has no right to say or control u in anyway. He is not your gaurdian or your parent. I would tell him to backoff and that he is not your boyfreind . You can not give control of your life to this person. Be who You want to be not who he wants. There is noway to gently tell a controling person to back off. Try to be polite about it and be very firm.

Have you asked your parent if this guy really is one of your cousins? If he said that the girl on your pic in myspace is his cousin too, why'd he even ask who it was?
Of course it's your life. You shouldn't get orders from anyone. Make your own choices. There is no way of telling him to back off without hurting his feelings. But you have to tell him sooner or later. Don't be a jerk and ignore him until he gets the message. Tell him straight, loud and clear. Make a statement politely.

Just tell him you appreciate his concern for you and you'll be sure and ask his advice/opinion when you feel you need it. Then go about your business and do whatever you want to do (that your parents allow).
If he offers more unwanted advice or directives, simply thank him for caring and then do whatever you feel is okay to do. He'll eventually get the idea that you're going to make your own decisions, no matter what he says.
If he gets a little hurt or annoyed, that's his choice...he'll get over it...

Where are your parents? You need to tell him that you have parents & they do not mind if you wear the skirt. I would not worry about hurting this guy's feelings because he sounds controlling & like someone who will only get worse over time. You need to try to distance yourself from him.

A guy this controlling really won't get the point without you hurting him. You have to let him know that you're controlling your life, not him. Tell him when you want his opinion, you'll ask for it.

tell him to stop being crazy, your not even related to the damn kid, tell him get a life, and a new cousin. then at the end just say no offence, that takes care of the "hurting him" part. haha.

tell this jackass that he may be a cousin but not your parent.....you live your own life and only your parents have the authority to tell you what pics to put on yuor myspace...you don't need him...he will make you miserable....cousin or not
