you would then have a ruling class (of some sort) Iran, Iraq, Russia, Political parties give the individual citizen a possible say in Government. The problem with our Political Parties, is the power allowed to members of Congress to govern themselves. No member, should be allowed to borrow money from a special entity. No member should be allowed to vote a raise that he benefits from. No member should be allowed to retire from congress! No member should be allowed to accure senoirity and individyual power. To stop that, allow no one to serve more than two terms without sitting out at least two terms. Any benifits voted on should be allowed for new members, but not for the "voters", even if they win a second term.

It's part of a democratic process. We need representation. Remember the call for the Revolution? "no taxation without representation", Americans were being taxed, but didn't have a voice. What would the point of our government be if we the people didn't have elections and the opportunity to vote whom ever we want into office? Our political parties, the Dems and Repub, represent American voices, they are supposed to do what we, as a whole would have them do.

Well many people have strong opinions and people want to be heard. As a party or group, in this case, political, the group can be heard because there are many who understand the opinions of what they think is right. One person cannot do nearly as much as 100 or 1,000 persons can. Being able to express your opinions on politics freely with those who want to listen is the base of who our leaders are.

we cant do away with them because if we did we would have to reorganize the government. if there were more than two or three candidates running for president, it would be impossible for someone to get the necessary vote, so we would have to do away with the electoral college. then the house and senate leaders would have to be rethought since their wouldn't be a majority party
