is this some kind of sick joke? he obviously cant sing at all. i heard he is safe because rod stewert told everyone to vote for him to show how stupid american idol is that americans would actually vote for someone who has no talent lol. i think i have lost all hope for him leaving, i wouldnt be surprised if he wins the competition..

Well, it just goes to show you the purpose of American Idol is not just to find talented singers-- it is pure, unabashed advertisement and product placement. And they are definitely reaching their teenage demographic. For some reason, Sunjaya has a hold on the tween-age and teenage girls that so religiously tune in to watch American Idol every week. (Note the girl in the audience last week who was crying because she met Sunjaya). This is not the first time something like this has happened on the show. Remember Kevin Covais, the "chipmunk", as Simon called him? Yes, Kevin was more talented than Sunjaya ever could be, but he was not at all at the level of the other singers that season. He still managed to stay on the show when other, more deserving singers got voted off.
I don't think Sunjaya will win the competition, either. Eventually, the voters will get more serious, as they have in previous seasons. In the meantime, millions of viewers will tune in every week just to see if Sunjaya will get voted off. American Idol will help Ford sell more cars and Coca-Cola keep teens drinking their soda, and 12-13 year old girls will swoon to the music of one Sunjaya Malakar.

He probably will win because all of the little teenage girls that are voting for him. They love him and they are the ones naive enough to waste time voting. But hey that's where music is headed anyway. Those little girls are every record labels target audience. They are the ones buying CDs.period. My friends, that old song "video killed the radio star" is very true. Its all about looks now. Hell the Beatles couldn't get a record deal now if they just came out. He's cute and harmless -a winning combo. I think Simon is the only judge that really has an ear, or at least acts like he does. And as big of a butthole he can be, i have to say he's right on. This should be about singing , not hairstyles. Sundance was the best male singer they had but he looked like a pro wrestler. I agree if Sanjaya wins Idol is done, So like a previous answer i don't think the producers will let that happen. Melinda is good, but still isn't star material

It is a sad thing when someone that UN-talented gets through and they kick off someone who has talent. If Sanjaya wins I think it will be the end of American Idol. No one will want to watch it if the worst wins and the talented are voted off. Its not fair to the talented people. They are working so hard for nothing.Just isn't right. Lets hope next week he will be gone but with the website www.votefortheworst.com getting so many hits its not likely that the ones who deserve to win will win. Maybe someone should make a website to vote him off.

Yeah, I heard that some dude wants to make a worst idol ever or something and is telling everyone to vote for Sanjaya. Also I think people are voting for him because Simon said he'll quit being a judge for American Idol if Sanjaya wins. (You know some people really dislike Simon so that might be the case.) If he wins, I think everybody (incliding me) will stop watching.

Howard Stern must be getting old. If he wanted to keep some one that couldn't sing worth a damn in the competition Antonella would have been a much better choice-she's much better looking than Sanjaya , she has better hair and not only is she hetero but she has the pictures to prove it. Not so in the case of Sanjaya aka the virus that brought Idol down.

if he wins the competition i think the competition will loose its credibility. Americans will lose all interest in the show, because it's suppose to be about people who have talent competing. but if someone who has no talent wins, you know its fixed. if sanjaya wins, i hope there is a boycot against the show. have u seen that girl who hasent eaten and wont until he leaves the show

i am thinking just like you so maybe next yr on idol you will get on just by smiling and fixing your hair stupid.. y would anyone who can sing try out next year ? some very good singers have left because of him and if i was some of them i would be raising cain it isnt rite. i am addicted to this show but i really think by next season i may be over it if idol doesnt step up to the plate and put a stop to this soon.. and really how can sanjaya not know every one is only keeping him on as a joke? doesnt his feelings get hurt by it?

Sounds like Rod Stewart has nothing to do with it. Relax, the Idol producers know what they're doing. They would not want to have Americans against the show. They will handle it.

His non-singing abilty would matter if American Idol was a singing competition. You should have realized after Season 1 that the show is not really a singing contest, but rather a popularity contest.

Well I hope he don't win that would be totally unfair!! Yeah I heard that 2!! I can't belive some people actually like him for his (no) talent!! I mean hes probably not a bad person but he is NOT a good singer!!
