Lately I've been feeling depressed and sometimes even suicidal. How do I tell someone that I need help? Most, pretty much all, of my loved ones have no idea this is going on. What do I do? How do I bring it up in a coversation?

This isnt the first time I've felt this way. I used to self mutilate but havent done so in over a year. Im scared my thoughts and feeling will take over my common sence. Some please help.

Tell your parent, if you go to school even a school couselor.
Something, we have all been depressed and down that road before
they arent going to think your some kind of wacko because of it,
im sure your parents have experienced the same thing, so just tell them.

admitting this to your family is both the hardest part, and the first step. You are a very courageous person to do this. I applaud you.

First, tell one person you trust privately. It will be easier, and once you tell them, they can stand beside you and help you tell everyone else. You might tell them to keep you from talking yourself out of telling your family, because that's the first thing you will probably want to do.

Then, gather your family together, with your friend beside you for support, and tell everyone at one time. That way you don't have to repeat it over and over.

Remember that your family loves you. Try to keep your tone level and stay calm, and they will follow suit. Explain as best you can without blaming them. Ask for their support. I'm sure they will want to help you in any way possible.

you could also visit a psychologist for more ideas about why this is happening, and how to resolve it.

This is hard and I think you are amazing to be so aware of the problem. Good luck, and I hope things turn around.

I am so concerned about you. Here is how you bring it up: "Listen, I need someone to talk to and I was hoping you could help me find someone. I'm having some major down feelings that seem way more than I can deal with on my own now." Please talk to your mom or dad or someone whom you feel close to. If you don't feel right about talking to one of them, you can contact the national suicide hotline 24 hours a day and 7 days a week at this number 1-800-784-2433 (1-800-suicide) or if you are a teen:

No matter what, if you need help you need to talk to someone. There are a list of people who will help you if you need to talk. Don't be afraid! Please, just find someone and let it all out. You can talk to a local preacher or preist from any church you are comfortable going to. (hey, I've done it even though I didn't have a church of my own. I felt completely safe and accepted and cared about and it helped 100 percent!) you can talk to a teacher you like (if you go to school) or a counselor, you can even go to an Emergency Room if you feel truly frightened of what you might do to yourself. Please, reach out. Your life can change and the depression can be controlled or even go away completely. Don't give up. I understand your feelings. I've been there before.

Yes, you do need someone to talk to. It doesn't mean you are a flawed or bad person! But suicidal thoughts and self mutilation requie help from a professional. trust me, you will feel SO much better, even taking the first step.

check your insurance, or your parents insurance if you are still covered under it. And talk to the most trusted adult you can find.

A great place to start is with your family Doctor, they can start you on an anti-depressant which will help. After you have been on the meds you will notice a big difference including the way you can talk to your family. When I had depression I coudnt tell anyone then went to my Doc and got on meds.. after a while you find it easier to open up to other people.

Find the person you trust more than anyone else, and ask if they'd listen to you. Then, ask them to help you tell someone else.

The best way to lead up to it is to not lead up to it. Just jump right in. Stuff like this is HARD for you, but it's also quite difficult for your friends and family. I've been on both ends of this, and I know that there is someone out there that is willing to listen to you.

I hope you start feeling better. NO ONE deserves to feel that way.

Well u already told some one me! Well if i was in your situation, i would tell the person i trust the most, whether it being a close friend, mother, father, anyone person you would be comfortable talking to. Set up a session with a psychiatrist, making sure that they keep your sessions confidential.Hopefully i helped. Good luck on your journey.

I'm proud of you for making the first step by asking us - That's hard to do and you did it - Let a family, friend or counselor in and tell someone you trust the same thing you told us - I can see your stronger than you think you are - I'm proud of you

Sit them down and have a serious conversation. Never keep something that important bottled up without telling anyone. Just remember that they're there for you and they want to support you, which will make telling them something important that much easier. good luck.
