i've played them both (even if only the playable demo of xbox live of crackdown). crackdown was really fun for a while especailly being able to scale any building i could find and swim where i wanted. but i have to say that oblivion as much as its not a perfect game, is very enjoyable and has MANY MANY hours of game place.

i found that crackdown got old too fast. it was the same thing over and over again, while oblivion - well it hasn't gotten old yet and im about 60 HOURS in and not even half way done. not to mention there is already an expansion out of it for another 30+ hours of game play.

so your pick - crackdown that got old after 30 MINUTES, or oblivion that still rocks after 60 HOURS and about 90 HOURS to go!

I will definitely say The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion over Crackdown. The main reason is because you will get your moneys worth in many different ways.

One, Elder Scrolls is by no means a short game.

Two, Elder Scrolls is a "thinking" game, smart and witty.

Finally, the game play. I looked at both previews and reviews for both games and I will be honest, Crackdown just doesn't look like it quite cuts the cake. I haven't played it personally but it doesn't invite me to do so. I have played previous Elder Scrolls and never put the controller down wanting.

A game I would suggest to think about if you are into first person shooters that is. Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter! It just looks out of control and the game play and the things you can do in the game is bananas! Just a thought!

I hope this helps... let me know what you decide to get.

Really, that's a matter of preference - Have you played Morrowind for the XBOX? If you did and loved it, I would say with no hesitation - get Oblivion!

Or, do you have a really big thing for GTA?

Personally, I've loved both - and put a few hundred hours or so into each (series) - but would you rather have a nearly completely open and endless modern or fantasy world? That's basically what it comes down to - I've heard some great things about Crackdown, but I've put nearly a hundred hours into Oblivion and haven't even come close to completing all the side quests (plus, I downloaded Shivering Isles and that's supposedly an extra 30 or so hours of gameplay) -

What do YOU like? I'm sure they are both great games, I have no doubt that Crackdown is a good game, and the main reason I bought my 360 was for Oblivion (I KNEW it was going to be the best freaking game ever) - but what are you looking for? A modern jumping, shooting, yay, super-cop game - or an archer/rogue/magician/knight game? Take your pick!

It really weights on what kind of game you want a rpg or action. If you want something destructive and fun than get crackdown put if you want something that can last a while then get Oblivion

Personally I say crackdown
Crackdown review
and oblivion review
from G4
enjoy

Crackdown. Why because it's more fun to blow things up in my opinion you can release some stress with this game.
