It depends...if I'm interested in the subject then it will be easy to remember everything including details...but if I have no interest I seem to find I need to study everything a few times for it to sink in.
For example I love to cook and enjoy reading cookbooks from different countries studying the ingredients...and how it's prepared...if I didn't like this subject it would be pure work not pleasure...and I'd hate the time having to spend studying about recipes when I'd rather be listening to some good jazz and reading about the musicians who played the music.
Whatever we set our minds to we can remember the details...it's all in our minds...how we attack the situation.

sometimes...it depends on what I'm listening or watching..If I'm not that interested then I tend to tune out..
Also if I am thinking or doing something, and someone is asking me a question sometimes I can't hear them...(a little selfish maybe)...and I do not multi task with conversations well.
I did have that problem after a traumatic experience and if it continues or becomes a problem..I'd see a therapist...they can give you some good medication for this

"What were you saying?"
I was too busy concentrating on remembering these details.
"So what were you saying?"
