how do I connect ancient printer with that huge port plug to nowadays modern dell computer with nothing but ethernet and usb ports?? do I need some sort of cable and what?

Get a parallel to USB adapter. Or maybe they're called USB to parallel. You can still find them at Circuit City.

The port that old cable uses is called a Parallel Port. (In contrast to the old Serial Port often used for modems or old mice.) There are Parallel Port to USB adapters available. Here's one for example:
