Yes you are allowed within limits &NO unless you Want a hugeeeeeeeee law suit never install inside a home you are renting or apartment or even hotel with rooms for rent this invades the right to privacy act whatever the case may be protect your home exterior halls etc front and back yards outside each domain is permissible by law as long as its notated in the lease or rental agreement and posted all around said property

When you rent your property to someone else, legally, they OWN the property until the lease runs out or they default and you take back possession.

With few exceptions, what you can do to what is now their property is the same as what you can do to your neighbour's house that you don't own.

Not if it is inside of the apartment. You can if it is in a shared hallway or outside the property, for the tenants well being, of course.

Not inside, unless you are talking about a recreation room, lobby, that sort of thing. You can't add anything like that where people are living.
