Consider going to the health food store and buying a box of Herbatint. Check out this excerpt from their FAQ:
8. I am pregnant and I have been told that permanent hair colours can be potentially dangerous for my unborn child.
Again, as with cancer sufferers HERBATINT™ would not recommend the use of permanent hair colours while pregnant. However, many of our customer do use the colours in these instances; Jane Leeves the actress from the T.V. programme 'Frazier' has openly claimed that her hairdresser used HERBATINT™ on her hair while she was pregnant. NO AMMONIA means far less of the product finds its way into they blood system. http://www.herbatint.co.uk/herbatint/using/herbatint-faq.php#herbatint8
1. What is HERBATINT™?
HERBATINT™ is a permanent hair colourant gel with a natural herbal base that contains NO AMMONIA, but will cover grey 100% and can lighten you hair up to 2 shades.
And if the health food store doesn't have this product, ask for an alternative and/or buy it online. I used Herbatint and it doesn't stink or burn the eyes. Hope this helps.

It's a complete non-problem. If you were further along, I would say that some women have trouble with the dye taking evenly.
The concerns for hair coloring involve hair stylists, not clients.

I highlighted my hair at 8 weeks with my docter's approval, it is better to use foils b/c the dye doesn't touch your head. Talk to your own docter if you feel uneasy, or wait until your 2nd trimester.
